Academic Freedom & The University of California
Although we were told that the review of APM-010 would probably take one year, in June the Academic Council voted (10-7) in favor of submitting this issue for consideration at a special July 30 Academic Senate meeting.
Reviews of important UC documents can take years. UC President Atkinson, who will be retiring in October 2003, has asked for a new academic freedom statement, and he wants it within a few months. Why rush such an important document?
